- 1/3 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
Buns & Toppings
- 4 brioche buns
- 1/4 cup garlic margarine or butter
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare for toasting the buns.
- Cook Chicken: Place the ground chicken in a large sauté pan over medium-high heat.
- Crumble Chicken: As the chicken cooks, crumble it well with a spatula to ensure even cooking and texture.
- Add Onions: Add the diced yellow onions to the pan with the ground chicken, stirring to combine.
- Cook Together: Stir the chicken and onions together as they cook until the chicken is fully cooked and onions are softened.
- Add Sauce and Seasonings: Once the chicken is cooked, add the marinara sauce, basil pesto, salt, and pepper to the pan. Stir until the chicken is fully coated with the sauce.
- Simmer: Reduce the heat to low and stir in the shredded Parmesan cheese. Let the mixture continue cooking gently over low heat to meld the flavors.
- Prepare Buns: Arrange the brioche buns on a baking sheet in a single layer, then spread garlic margarine evenly on the cut sides of the buns.
- Toast Buns: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and toast the buns for 5 minutes until golden and fragrant.
- Assemble Sandwiches: Spoon the chicken Parmesan sloppy joe mixture onto the bottom halves of the toasted buns.
- Add Cheese: Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the sloppy joe mixture.
- Top & Serve: Place the top halves of the buns over the mozzarella and serve immediately. Enjoy your Chicken Parmesan Sloppy Joes!
