A luscious and layered Chocolate Toffee Trifle featuring moist chocolate cake, creamy whipped topping, rich caramel and fudge sauces, and crunchy toffee pieces for a decadent dessert perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
Cake
- 1 pan chocolate cake (9×13-inch), baked and cooled
Sauces & Condensed Milk
- 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
- 12 oz caramel sauce
- 1 cup chocolate fudge sauce
Whipped Cream
- 2 cups cold heavy whipping cream
- 0.5 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Toppings
- 6 Heath or Skor bars, chopped
Instructions
- Prepare the Whipped Cream: In a cold mixing bowl, beat the cold heavy whipping cream together with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. Cover and chill until ready to use to keep it stable and fresh.
- Cube the Cake: Break the baked and cooled chocolate cake into small chunks or cubes, roughly bite-sized for layering.
- Start Layering: In a trifle dish, arrange one-third of the cake chunks evenly along the bottom. Drizzle one-third of the sweetened condensed milk and one-third of the caramel sauce over the cake layer to infuse moisture and flavor.
- Add Cream and Fudge: Spoon a generous layer of the whipped cream over the cake layer, smoothing lightly, then drizzle a portion of the chocolate fudge sauce on top for a rich chocolaty finish.
- Repeat Layers: Repeat steps 3 and 4 twice more, layering the remaining cake chunks, condensed milk, caramel sauce, whipped cream, and fudge sauce evenly across the trifle.
- Top and Garnish: Finish with a thick layer of whipped cream on the final layer. Sprinkle the chopped Heath or Skor toffee bars evenly over the top. Optionally drizzle more fudge sauce for extra indulgence.
- Chill Before Serving: Refrigerate the trifle for at least 2 hours to allow flavors to meld and the dessert to set perfectly before serving.
Notes
- For best results, ensure the heavy cream is very cold to achieve stiff whipped peaks.
- You can prepare the trifle a day ahead and keep it refrigerated to enhance the flavor fusion.
- Use good quality caramel and fudge sauces for the richest taste.
- Substitute Heath or Skor bars with your favorite toffee candy if desired.
