Description
Christmas Hot Cocoa Bombs are delightful chocolate spheres filled with rich cocoa powder and mini marshmallows. When placed in a mug and combined with hot milk, they melt and create a creamy, festive hot chocolate perfect for winter celebrations or cozy nights in.
Ingredients
Scale
Chocolate Shell
- 1 cup chocolate melts (dark, milk, or white)
Filling
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup mini marshmallows
- Flavor extracts (e.g., peppermint or vanilla), optional, a few drops
Instructions
- Melt Chocolate: Place the chocolate melts in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until completely smooth and melted.
- Coat Silicone Molds: Using a spoon or brush, coat the inside of silicone molds evenly with the melted chocolate. Allow to cool slightly and apply a second layer for sturdiness. Chill the molds to set the chocolate shells firmly.
- Fill Shells: Once the shells are set, carefully remove them from the molds. Fill half of the chocolate shells with 1/2 cup cocoa powder, mini marshmallows, and a few drops of your chosen flavor extract if desired.
- Seal Shells: Warm a plate in the microwave for about 30 seconds. Briefly place an empty chocolate shell on the warm plate just long enough to slightly melt its edge. Quickly press the warm edge onto the filled half to seal the bomb. Allow to set completely.
- Decorate(Optional): Drizzle additional melted chocolate over the sealed bombs or sprinkle festive decorations like colored sugar or sprinkles for a festive touch.
- Serve: To enjoy, place a hot cocoa bomb in a mug and pour steaming hot milk over it. Stir gently as the chocolate melts and releases the cocoa and marshmallows, creating a delicious hot chocolate drink.
