Description

French Dip Tortilla Roll Ups are a quick and comforting twist on the classic French dip sandwich, featuring thinly sliced roast beef and melted mozzarella or provolone cheese wrapped in flour tortillas. Baked until golden and served with a flavorful, homemade au jus dipping sauce, these handheld roll ups deliver all the savory goodness with minimal prep and fuss, perfect for cozy lunches or easy dinners.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb thinly sliced roast beef (deli style or leftover)
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese
  • 4 large flour tortillas

Baking & Seasoning

  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley

Au Jus Sauce

  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Assemble Roll Ups: Lay the flour tortillas flat on your workspace, then evenly layer the thinly sliced roast beef and shredded cheese down the center of each tortilla.
  3. Roll Tightly: Roll up each tortilla tightly around the filling and place them seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet to keep them sealed during baking.
  4. Apply Butter & Seasoning: Brush the tops of the roll ups with melted butter, then sprinkle with garlic powder, onion powder, and dried parsley for added flavor and a golden finish.
  5. Bake: Bake the roll ups in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes, or until the tortillas turn golden brown and the cheese inside is melted and bubbly.
  6. Prepare Au Jus: While the roll ups bake, combine the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5–7 minutes to concentrate the flavors into a rich dipping sauce.
  7. Serve: Remove the roll ups from the oven and slice them if desired. Serve warm with the prepared au jus for dipping, creating the perfect savory bite every time.

Notes

  • Use leftover roast beef or deli-style roast beef for convenience.
  • Substitute mozzarella with provolone for a more authentic French dip flavor.
  • To make the roll ups gluten-free, use gluten-free tortillas.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat roll ups in the oven or air fryer to retain crispiness.
  • For added heat, sprinkle red pepper flakes before baking.
