Instructions
- Prepare the Cake: Bake the chocolate cake according to the instructions on the box. Use two 8-inch round cake pans. Let the cakes cool completely.
- Make the Filling: Beat softened cream cheese until smooth. Add peanut butter and powdered sugar, mixing until well-blended and creamy.
- Assemble the Cake: Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread peanut butter filling generously over the top. Add the second cake layer on top.
- Make Ganache: Heat heavy cream in a saucepan until simmering. Pour over chopped dark chocolate. Let sit 5 minutes, then stir until smooth and glossy.
- Top the Cake: Pour ganache over the top of the cake, letting it drip down the sides. Smooth it out with a spatula.
- Garnish: Sprinkle with crushed peanuts and garnish with chocolate bars or peanut butter cups if desired.
