Description

Hissy Fit Dip is a creamy, cheesy, and flavorful baked dip combining cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, sharp cheddar, pepper jack cheese, and savory cooked sausage with a hint of spice from green chiles and seasonings. Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 8 oz package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded pepper jack cheese
  • 1 cup cooked ground sausage (mild or spicy, crumbled)
  • 1 4 oz can diced green chiles, drained
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • Salt and black pepper (to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
  • Crackers (tortilla chips, or bread slices for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a medium baking dish or a cast-iron skillet to prevent sticking.
  2. Cook the Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground sausage until browned and crumbled. Drain off any excess grease to keep the dip from being too oily.
  3. Mix the Base: In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise. Stir well until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  4. Add Cheese & Flavor: Stir in the shredded sharp cheddar cheese, shredded pepper jack cheese, cooked sausage, diced green chiles, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper. Mix until all ingredients are evenly combined.
  5. Bake: Spread the dip mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish. Bake uncovered in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until the top is bubbly and golden brown.
  6. Serve Hot: Remove from the oven and garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired. Serve warm with crackers, tortilla chips, or bread slices for dipping.

Notes

  • You can adjust the heat by adding more or less cayenne pepper or by choosing mild or spicy sausage.
  • Use a cast-iron skillet for a nice rustic presentation and even baking.
  • The dip can be prepared ahead of time and refrigerated; bake just before serving.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated gently in the oven or microwave.
  • For a lighter version, use low-fat cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise.
