Hot Italian Sub Sliders Recipe

  • Author: Ella
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 12 sliders 1x

Description

These Hot Italian Sub Sliders are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or party food featuring soft Hawaiian rolls layered with a flavorful combination of ham, salami, pepperoni, provolone cheese, and spicy peppers. Topped with a garlic butter blend and baked until golden and melty, they are perfect for sharing and can be customized for milder tastes.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Sliders:

  • 12-pack soft dinner rolls (King’s Hawaiian rolls recommended), halved lengthwise
  • 6 oz thinly sliced ham
  • 5 oz thinly sliced salami
  • 5 oz thinly sliced pepperoni
  • 9 slices provolone cheese
  • ⅓ cup sliced pepperoncini
  • ⅓ cup sliced pickled hot cherry peppers

For the Topping:

  • ¼ cup salted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed (fresh recommended)

Optional for Serving:

  • 1 cup marinara sauce, for dipping

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the sliders evenly and melting the cheese.
  2. Assemble Sliders: Place the bottom halves of the rolls on a baking sheet. Layer the ham, salami, pepperoni, provolone cheese, sliced pepperoncini, and hot cherry peppers. Then top with the upper halves of the rolls to form each slider.
  3. Prepare Garlic Butter Topping: In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with Italian seasoning and crushed garlic. Brush this mixture generously over the tops of the assembled sliders, making sure to cover all areas for maximum flavor.
  4. Bake the Sliders: Cover the sliders tightly with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the cheese has fully melted.
  5. Serve: Remove from the oven, slice into individual sliders, and serve warm. Optionally, provide marinara sauce on the side for dipping to add an extra layer of flavor.

Notes

  • For a milder version, substitute the hot cherry peppers with roasted red peppers or omit them entirely.
  • You can swap provolone cheese for mozzarella or a provolone-mozzarella blend to vary the cheese flavor.
  • Sliders can be assembled up to 8 hours in advance, stored covered in the refrigerator, and baked fresh when ready to serve.
