Description

Marry Me Chicken is a creamy, flavorful chicken dish featuring tender, thinly sliced chicken breasts cooked in a rich parmesan cream sauce with garlic, sundried tomatoes, and aromatic herbs. This comforting recipe is perfect for a cozy dinner and pairs wonderfully with pasta or rice.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 3 large chicken breasts, boneless and skinless, sliced lengthwise into thin cutlets
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 6 tablespoons (50 grams) all-purpose flour

Cooking Fats

  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons (28 grams) unsalted butter

For the Sauce

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup (240 ml) chicken stock
  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
  • ½ cup (43 grams) parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes
  • ¼ teaspoon oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon thyme
  • ⅓ cup sundried tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil leaves, chopped

Instructions

  1. Season and Dredge: Season the chicken cutlets evenly with salt and black pepper. Dredge each piece in all-purpose flour, shaking off any excess to create a light coating that will help the chicken develop a golden crust and thicken the sauce later.
  2. Cook the Chicken: Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Swirl to coat the pan evenly, then add the chicken cutlets. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until the chicken is golden brown and thoroughly cooked. Remove the chicken from the pan, place on a plate, cover to keep warm, and set aside.
  3. Sauté Aromatics and Deglaze: In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sauté for about one minute until fragrant but not browned. Pour in the chicken stock, scraping the bottom of the pan with a wooden spoon to lift any flavorful browned bits and deglaze the pan.
  4. Prepare the Sauce: Reduce the heat to medium-low. Stir in the heavy cream and grated Parmesan cheese. Let the sauce simmer gently for a couple of minutes until it begins to thicken. Add chili flakes, oregano, and thyme to infuse the sauce with warmth and herbaceous notes.
  5. Add Sun-Dried Tomatoes and Finish Cooking: Adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if needed. Stir in chopped sundried tomatoes. Return the cooked chicken cutlets to the skillet, spoon sauce over the top, and allow everything to simmer together for 4-5 minutes until the sauce is thick, creamy, and the flavors meld beautifully.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle the dish with fresh chopped basil leaves for a bright herbal finish. Serve the Marry Me Chicken warm over cooked pasta, rice, or your favorite side for a comforting and impressive meal.

Notes

  • Use thinly sliced chicken cutlets for quick, even cooking. If chicken breasts are thick, slice them lengthwise to create cutlets.
  • Sundried tomatoes add a tangy, concentrated flavor—opt for oil-packed varieties for extra richness.
  • If heavy cream is unavailable, you can substitute with half-and-half or a mixture of cream and milk, but the sauce may be less rich.
  • Adjust chili flakes according to desired spice level.
  • Serve with pasta, mashed potatoes, or steamed rice for a complete meal.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and gently reheated.
