Ingredients
Scale
Steak and Marinade
- 1 lb sirloin steak
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Tzatziki Sauce
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cucumber, grated
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh dill
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Bowl Assembly
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1 cucumber, diced
- 2 cups cooked grains (brown rice, quinoa, or cauliflower rice)
- Fresh herbs (parsley or dill), for garnish
Instructions
- Marinate the Steak: In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, oregano, thyme, salt, and pepper. Add the sirloin steak, coating it thoroughly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to infuse.
- Prepare the Tzatziki Sauce: Combine the Greek yogurt with grated cucumber, lemon juice, minced garlic, chopped dill, salt, and pepper in a separate bowl. Mix well and chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
- Cook the Steak: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and cook for 4 to 5 minutes on each side until it reaches your desired doneness. Once cooked, let the steak rest for a few minutes before slicing it thinly against the grain to ensure tenderness.
- Assemble the Bowls: Divide cooked grains evenly among serving bowls. Layer sliced steak on top, followed by fresh cherry tomatoes and diced cucumber. Drizzle generously with the chilled tzatziki sauce and garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or dill to finish.
Notes
- Marinate the steak for longer (up to 2 hours) for a deeper flavor.
- Use cauliflower rice instead of grains for a low-carb option.
- Adjust the amount of garlic in the tzatziki to your preference.
- Leftover steak can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- For added crunch, sprinkle toasted pine nuts or walnuts over the bowl before serving.
