  • Yield: 8 biscuit melts 1x

Description

Shrimp Crab Biscuit Melts are delectable golden-baked biscuits filled with a creamy, cheesy mixture of fresh shrimp, lump crab meat, and a medley of flavorful seasonings. Perfect as a savory appetizer or unique snack, these melts combine tender seafood with melted cheddar and cream cheese, wrapped in fluffy biscuit dough and baked to perfection.

Ingredients

Scale

Seafood Filling

  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup lump crab meat
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Biscuit & Topping

  • 1 package refrigerated biscuit dough (8 biscuits)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it’s ready for baking the biscuit melts.
  2. Prepare Filling: In a large bowl, combine the peeled and deveined shrimp, lump crab meat, shredded cheddar cheese, softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Old Bay seasoning, garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  3. Prepare Biscuits: Open the refrigerated biscuit dough package and carefully separate the eight individual biscuits.
  4. Flatten Biscuits: On a floured surface, gently flatten each biscuit into a round disc approximately 1/4 inch thick to create space for the filling.
  5. Fill Biscuits: Place a generous spoonful of the seafood filling onto the center of each flattened biscuit, ensuring enough filling for a flavorful bite.
  6. Seal Biscuits: Fold each biscuit over the filling creating a half-moon shape, then pinch the edges tightly to seal and prevent leakage during baking.
  7. Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place the filled biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them evenly to allow proper heat distribution.
  8. Brush with Butter: Brush the tops of each biscuit with melted butter to promote a beautiful golden-brown finish as they bake.
  9. Bake: Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until they turn golden brown and the filling is cooked through.
  10. Garnish & Serve: Remove the biscuits from the oven and let them cool slightly. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley for a burst of color and freshness before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute cream cheese with goat cheese for a tangier flavor.
  • Ensure all seafood is properly cooked if you prefer fully cooked filling before assembling, or use quickly cooked shrimp.
  • Adding a pinch of cayenne pepper can add a subtle spicy kick.
  • Use gluten-free biscuit dough to make this recipe gluten-free if needed.
  • Serve warm for best taste and texture.
