Description

Taste Air Fryer Rice Paper Noodle Rolls are a crispy and healthy appetizer featuring delicate rice paper filled with vermicelli noodles, shredded vegetables, and a flavorful protein like tofu or shrimp. Air frying gives these rolls a perfectly crispy exterior without deep frying, making them a lighter yet satisfying snack or starter. Served with your choice of sweet chili, peanut, or soy-ginger dipping sauce, these rolls are quick to prepare and delightful to eat.

Ingredients

Scale

Rice Paper Rolls

  • 8 rice paper sheets
  • 1 cup cooked vermicelli noodles
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots
  • 1 cup finely chopped cabbage
  • 1 block firm tofu (or 8 cooked shrimp)
  • 2 tablespoons green onion, sliced
  • 2 teaspoons grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Shaoxing wine (or rice vinegar)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • Oil spray for air frying

Optional Dipping Sauce

  • Sweet chili sauce
  • Peanut sauce
  • Soy-ginger sauce

Instructions

  1. Soak rice paper sheets: Soak one rice paper sheet in warm water for 10–15 seconds until it becomes soft and pliable for easy rolling.
  2. Prepare rolling surface: Transfer the softened rice paper to a damp surface such as a wooden board or clean towel to prevent sticking while assembling.
  3. Add filling: Place a small layer of cooked vermicelli noodles in the center of the rice paper, then top with shredded carrots, chopped cabbage, and your choice of tofu or cooked shrimp.
  4. Roll the rice paper: Fold in the sides of the rice paper, then tightly roll from the bottom up like a burrito. Repeat this process for all sheets.
  5. Prepare for air frying: Lightly brush or spray each roll with sesame oil or a neutral oil to help crisp the exterior during air frying.
  6. Preheat air fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 2–3 minutes to ensure even cooking.
  7. Arrange in air fryer basket: Place the rolls seam-side down in a single layer in the air fryer basket, avoiding overcrowding to allow crispy air circulation.
  8. Air fry the rolls: Cook for 8–10 minutes at 375°F, flipping the rolls halfway through to achieve a golden, crispy texture on both sides.
  9. Serve: Remove from the air fryer and serve hot with your preferred dipping sauce like sweet chili, peanut, or soy-ginger for a flavorful finish.

Notes

  • Soaking rice paper sheets briefly is important to prevent tearing and to make rolling easier.
  • You can customize fillings by adding herbs like cilantro or mint for extra flavor.
  • Use firm tofu pressed to remove excess moisture to avoid soggy rolls.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure even crisping.
  • Rolling seams down in the air fryer helps keep the rolls intact during cooking.
