Ingredients
Scale
Chicken
- 2 small chicken breasts
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons poultry seasoning (or salt, pepper, garlic powder mix)
Bread and Garlic Butter
- 1 Italian style loaf
- 1 stick unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic (or garlic paste)
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
- 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Alfredo Sauce
- 1/2 stick unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup shredded parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
Toppings
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken: Cut the chicken breasts into ½ inch pieces and transfer them to a bowl. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon olive oil and season with 1 tablespoon poultry seasoning or a salt, pepper, and garlic powder mix. Heat a pan over medium heat and cook the chicken pieces until golden and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Slice and Butter the Bread: Slice the Italian loaf lengthwise into two halves. In a small bowl, combine 1 stick melted butter, 1 tablespoon minced garlic, 1 tablespoon chopped parsley, and 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes. Spread this garlic butter mixture evenly over both halves of the bread.
- Toast the Bread: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the buttered bread halves on a baking sheet and toast for 5-10 minutes, checking at 5 minutes and continuing until the bread is lightly crispy and golden but not burnt.
- Make the Alfredo Sauce: Using the same pan used for the chicken, heat 1/2 stick of butter over medium-low heat and let it melt. Add 1 tablespoon minced garlic and cook for 2-3 minutes until fragrant. Lower the heat to low and stir in 1/2 cup heavy cream, 1/4 cup shredded parmesan cheese, and 1 tablespoon chopped parsley. Simmer gently while stirring continuously until the sauce thickens slightly, about 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat.
- Assemble the Garlic Bread: Spread half of the Alfredo sauce over the toasted bread halves. Evenly distribute the cooked chicken pieces on top, then sprinkle with the shredded mozzarella cheese. Drizzle the remaining Alfredo sauce over the top for extra creaminess.
- Bake Until Cheese Melts: Return the assembled bread to the oven at 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the mozzarella cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
- Serve: Remove from oven, slice into 2-3 inch pieces, and serve warm. Enjoy the rich, garlicky, cheesy chicken Alfredo garlic bread!
Notes
- Adjust red pepper flakes to taste for more or less heat.
- Use fresh garlic for best flavor, but garlic paste works well too.
- Feel free to substitute Italian bread with French baguette if preferred.
- To make it gluten free, substitute bread with gluten free bread.
- Leftovers can be reheated in the oven for best texture.
- For a lighter version, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream, but sauce may be less rich.
